What is a Laminate flooring?
Laminate flooring is a good alternative to traditional parquet and to wooden floors because of its price and ease of installation. Furthermore, it is abrasion and shock resistant.
Its only disadvantage over traditional wood is that it is less warm to the touch and that it is difficult to repair or replace.
Laminate flooring is made up of several layers:
- Above is the wear layer, transparent and with a certain resistance depending on its classification (AC4, 5 or 6).
- A second layer of decorative paper containing the design you see.
- The nucleus, made of HDF o MDF (wood fiber) which usually has the click system of union between slats.
- And finally, a layer called stabilizing base.
Hardness levels of laminate floors
Laminate floors have different levels of resistance to damage and scratches. AC4, AC5, and AC6 are the most common types.
- AC4 laminated floor are designed for home use, spaces with medium traffic.
- AC5 and 6 laminated floors are oriented to commercial premises, offices and other large areas where traffic of people is greater.
Most laminate flooring models are not resistant to the presence of water, but some are, making them suitable for bathrooms and kitchens. Use our filter to find waterproof laminate floors.
